I imagine this will have lots of applicants, but it's worth a try for anyone interested in working from home in customer support.

The company hiring is N.E.W, and they may sound familiar as I have posted about this company before. It looks like NEW is actively hiring again, and you may want to check them out.

As a customer care representative for N.E.W, you will answer customer calls from yout home, and help out with their questions, troubleshooting problems with their product and arranging service or replacement as needed.

Mystery Shopping With TrendSource

If you are interested in mystery shopping, you may want to check out Trendsource. I came across the review for Trendsource while visiting Earn On The Side.com, and I think Trendsource sounds pretty interesting.

Basically it is a mystery shopping company, however with a majority of their assigned jobs, you would actually reveal your identity to store owners or managers and do a short interview with them.

Basically you apply with TrendSource and once you are hired, you will get email opportunities periodically that you can either accept or not. According to the review of TrendSource on Earn On The Side, payment for jobs is usually in the $10-$25 range and will require about 30-60 minutes of your time. TrendSource will sometimes even pay for your gas if you have to drive far.

I have checked around a bit on the Internet today, and have to say I have seen positive comments on TrendSource thus far.

And from the TrendSource website:

TrendSource is a Colorado Corporation established in 1989 under the name Mystery Shoppers, Inc. Our name was changed to TrendSource® in 1999 to better reflect the services we offer including compliance audits, award programs, competitive surveys, inspections, phone surveys and other business intelligence services.
We have more than seventeen (17) years of experience in providing services to more than 75,000 business locations throughout the US and Canada. Our services have benefited more than 2,000,000 employees, supervisors, managers, and executives. We specialize in providing the highest quality work, 100% of the time, delivered to our clients in real-time.

TrendSource is a founding member of the Mystery Shopping Providers Association (MSPA) and an ISO 9001 certified company.

Go to the TrendSource Website, and read more about the company and their application process (all done via email only), and see what you think.

Also, it never hurts to check out a company further on the Internet and get a better idea of what others who may have worked for a certain company thought about their experiences. Just google TrendSource and check out the responses that come up.

Good Luck! And if you have worked for TrendSource before, or have any experience with this company, good or bad, please share with us!

A Mom's Home Based Business Inspiration

This home based business really just awes the heck out of me! It's one of those "Why didn't I think of That?" ideas that is so great and has so much potential.

This home business was created by Karen Lefebvre-Christou who fell in love with a drawing her then three year old son drew of a cat. So for a friend's toddler's birthday, Karen hurriedly made a real stuffed version of her own son's creative drawing of "Scooby, the cat". Karen says it "was a quirky cute gift but was hard to give away!"

In the spring of 2006, The parents at the preschool where Karen's son went wanted to give the teachers a unique memorable end of year present. Just by having the kids all draw their own versions of creatures, Karen was able to bring all those drawings to life, and the parents were able to give the preschool teachers a basket full of "artlings" from the children’s drawings, and the response was overwhelming! The children could not believe their eyes when they saw their art ALIVE, and many parents urged Karen to turn her hobby into a business…Thus the artling was born…

How many times have your kids drawn cute or even scary looking creations and proudly presented them to you? My 4 year old is currently into drawing dinosaurs. Each day he is showing me his latest attempts, and I love each and every one of them. I would love to have one of his drawings made into a stuffed animal creation! These could even make great Christmas presents for grandparents, don't you think?

Karen has a website, Myart2life.com, and when you visit, she explains how you can have one of your child's drawings made into an 'artling.'

And Karen is also working on combining her 'artlings' with hospitals and foundations to bring children that are in the hospital a real life cuddly version of creatures they have drawn.

Visit Karen's website, and check out the wonderful 'artlings' she has made from children's creative drawings.

I am curious if any other mommies or grandmothers out there have already done this--created a stuffed animal based on their child's drawings? I am really thinking to myself how I could have never thought of doing this??? Ack.

Tips On How To Work at Home

I just finished reading a great article on Slacker Manager called 8 Tips on How to Work at Home. I found myself really enjoying this article ( and guess what--I drank a cup of coffee as I read it, aaaand-- I read the whole article, all at one time, with no kids around! Nope--all 3 munchkins are still sound asleep, hehe, so mom got some much needed alone with my coffee quality time!!)

Anyway, I digress. Back to the article I read. David Zinger has worked at home for about 28 years, including a period of having 3 children under 2 years of age. Wow-- this is a person I am very interested in getting advice and tips from.

I can relate to much of what David writes about in his article, and a couple of point he made really hit home for me as well.

I agreed wholeheartedly when David brings up the all too true scenario of kids gone crazy and driving me nuts. I would much rather be here at home with my kids driving me nuts than stuck in my car with traffic driving me nuts. Thank-you David, for that perspective!

Read David's 8 tips, and enjoy his wisdom gained from 28 years of working at home.

For me, the best tip I have right now is this: Get up early before anyone else and get some quality alone time in with your coffee cup and lap top. I can probably make this time, short as it may be, more work-related productive than all the rest of the hours in the day combined.

Christmas in July--Start Making Extra Christmas Money Now!

I just signed up with "Swag Bucks" and I'm really excited! The way it works is simple- You register with Swag Bucks, and then use the swag bucks search engine when you do your normal searching on the Internet.

Every time you do a search, you have a chance to win "swag bucks." You can win amounts of $1.00-$5.00. Right after I signed up, I did my first search and voila! I won $2.00!! I was so excited--you'd thought I won the jackpot at Las Vegas, hehe. Anyway, the bucks you earn go into your account, and whenever you have enough swag bucks, you can visit the swag bucks store and buy merchandise. They have a lot of gift cards for various places, so my goal is to start earning some gift cards for Christmas.

Another feature with swag bucks is if you shop online at a participating store, you will get back $1 swag dollar for every $5 you spend. So if you were going to shop online anyway for some item you need, it's worth it to see if the store is a participating swag bucks retailer, and earn some swag bucks!

You can also earn swag bucks by referring friends. When they sign up and win swag bucks, you will too.

You can only win swag bucks each day for the first twenty searches, so it doesn't work to just sit and try doing different searches (yea--I admit I thought about that, LOL). The winning swag bucks will show up only periodically--you never know when a search will win. So it's best to just search with the swag bucks whenever you would normally find yourself searching for something anyway.

Check out swag bucks ( I have a button on the side column you can click on to go directly to the site) --it really is easy and fun, and is a good way to start earning extra Christmas money in July.

Telecommuting Opportunities in Market Research

Troy Research is a marketing research company that offers market research services to other established and just starting out companies. Troy Research's primary goal is to help clients get the most value from their Internet research in a sales, customer service, or support role.

Troy Research has several different independent contractor jobs that are work from home positions. What I like about this company is that on the careers page, they offer a resource for interested applicants to speak with independent contractors already working with Troy Research.

From looking at their list of telecommuting jobs, they seem to have phone interviewer jobs available, as well as online research positions available.

There is no salary/payment information listed however, so I guess you will find that information out as you go through the application process.

To get started, you select the Independent Contractor opportunity that interests you, and then proceed to the online application on the Troy Research Website.

Good Luck if you apply--and please share your experiences if you have worked with Troy Research!

Virtual Assistants Hiring Resource

Have you heard of Team Double Click? I have heard their name mentioned a couple of times lately, and today I checked out their website. It seems Team Double Click is like a Kelly Temporary Services, only it's a virtual staffing office.

The basics of Team Double Click are pretty straight forward--

There are no listing fees to sign up with them;

Opportunities are emailed to you;

You would be working on projects for Team Double Click clients, and Team Double Click will handle billing and collections from clients;

They offer free training and ongoing coaching;

As far as pay goes, the website states that payment will depend on each particular project:

"Some pay by the job, some pay by the hour. What we do when a project comes in is contact our qualified people, like yourself, and let you know what the project entails, what the pay is and check your availability. You always have the opportunity to turn down a project. But once you accept it, we expect you to follow it through to completion. There are no fees for you to pay for projects or to set up with our company. Whatever we negotiate with you for the project pay is exactly what you receive upon completion."

The website cautions that it will take a virtual assistant applicant approximately 4-6 weeks to get through the entire registering and testing process.

Check out Team Double Click, and if you know any more about them, or have worked for them, please share your comments!

Freebies For Your Birthday!!

Yea!! I love this site I came across today. Lately I have become more focused on coupons, give-aways, freebies, and just everything related to frugal living. And I'm happy to find out it is actually fun!

So today I found Free Birthday Treats-- a free site where you can find all kinds of fun and free birthday treats for you, your kids, and even your pet. How great is that?

You just enter your state and a list of businesses offering freebies ( like a free meal, dessert, coupons, bowling, movie rentals, free manicures, etc) will be displayed. Just click on whichever links interest you, and you will be taken to that business's website. There you can sign up to receive their birthday freebie! I happily and unashamedly report that I hit the Baskin Robbins one first thing. Yum.

Now this also got me to thinking that mompreneurs with wonderful products that they sell online might want to consider being a provider of a birthday freebie on this site. Maybe offer a secial discount, or sample, or whatever. Since I am not a mompreneur of any wonderful products, I don't know how/if this would work out, but I thought it could be an idea worth throwing out there.

But definitely check out Free Birthday Treats-- The site now has over 4,000 unique visitors a month and over 2,000 nationwide listings for birthday freebies and discounts. You'll also find frugal birthday tips, featured businesses and weekly product reviews/giveaways.

How Our Fourth Of July Became a Pain in The Neck

Happy Fourth of July!

Our Fourth of July is definitely not what we had planned. My daughter woke up with an extremely painful sore neck--you know the kind of neck pain you get when you sleep wrong on your neck and it is excruciating to move? Because we have been painting her bedroom, she has been sleeping on the couch the last couple of nights. Unfortunately last night she got into some position where her neck must have been angled wrong, and ouch! this morning she awoke screaming in pain.

So we have been putting icy hot on her neck and gave her some tylenol, and she is now resting more comfortably and watching tv. But it looks like our plans for watching fireworks tonight is out.

My daughter has been begging me to get her a new laptop, and today she tells me that we could just use a credit card to buy one with. Ack. I can see where she gets the idea that credit cards and charging stuff is so easy--the commercials on tv make it look like nothing--order now and just pay later!

I checked out a site online about student credit cards and it really has a lot of articles and information about using credit cards responsibly, how to apply, how to build a good credit history, etc. I let my daughter read some stuff on the site so that hopefully she'll get the message that credit cards are really to be used for emergency type situations, not buying something just because you want it. I get the feeling that she thinks of credit cards as 'free money' somehow; I don't think she gets that a nice little bill comes every month, and you will have to pay back the money you spent and then some.

Anyway, after our discussion, and after she read on the website about credit cards and how you actually pay more back than what you spent in the first place, she seems to have a better understanding of how credit works. I hope so anyway.

So that's about it for our holiday--not an exciting one, but at least we are all together and finding some quality time in just hanging out watching tv and talking.
Funny how plans can change in a blink of an eye. But I am actually enjoying our mellow family day together (of course I wish my daughter felt better though)--who knows what other interesting discussions may come up!

A New Bathroom For This Work at Home Mom?

Yes, I want to redo our master bathroom. Of course want and need are two different things, and the truth of the matter is that we really do not need to redo our bathroom just yet. But I have a bad case of bathroom envy because my neighbor up the street just redid hers and it's beautiful! Sigh. So I went looking online today anyway to look at ideas for when and if we ever do get to do a bathroom suite makeover.
And while it was fun doing my fantasy online shopping, I realized that our bathroom is really fine ( of course it could be better with a jacuzzi bathtub, hehe), and I was just being consumed by "wanna have" envy. My neighbor works full time, as does her husband. And that is fine. But I realized as I surfed the Internet checking out gorgeous bathroom fixtures, that everything is a trade off. Yes, I could work outside the home full time and maybe have the extra money to redo a bathroom or get new carpeting, or whatever. But the trade off would be of course being away from my kids and for me, a new bathroom is not worth it.
So, I can live with my master bathroom, and I can live with my choice to be a stay at home mom and a work at home mom.
Remodeling can wait.Jacuzzi bathtubs can wait. My kids are only little for a minute in time.

Tips For Making Your Home Business Successful

I came across an article today that offers some suggestions to help make a work at home business successful. The points made in the article all very good, but a couple really stood out for me, such as prioritizing my time (ack!--I need time to prioritize time--kwim?), and staying on task! Those are probably my two biggest challenges in trying to work (successfully) from home. Here are the main suggestions from the article--

1) Time management. You will need to prioritize your time ruthlessly in order to stop yourself wasting time on things that don't earn you money. Running a business means you are self employed, and not paid by the hour. So you have to make EVERY hour count. You will need to sacrifice something in your routine to fit time for a home business in. I can recommend TV time is the first place you look for that extra time you can use!

2) Believe! Know it can be done. Have the belief in yourself that you CAN run a business from home. And that people are doing it successfully in far worse situations that you currently are. If you don't believe you can do it - you're probably right.

3) Work on yourself harder than you work on your home business. Chances are you are in a home business where people are successful. That means the business works, the only difference in your situation is YOU.

4) Become Task Orientated. Know the tasks that produce you income. And do these first. If you have time for others great. If you don't no problem as long as you've done the income producing ones first your home business will still succeed.

5) Accept that to get a 'yes' to your product / business you HAVE to also have no's. Its impossible not to. Its part of any business whether its work from home or not. Don't take it personally and accept its part of the process.

6) Be prepared to step up and be your own boss. Be responsible for your own actions. Would you hire or fire yourself for the day's activities? Be honest with yourself!
