Get Paid To Find Local Deals--Freelance Writers

Groupon.com is sort of like a coupon/deal finder website that is looking for freelance writers to contribute. Each day's Groupon features a funny write-up describing the deal and the business.

Right now, Groupon is based in Chicago and Boston, but is expanding to New York in May, and other cities this summer.

You do not need to have formal writing experience-- just a sense of humor, ability to find deals, and can write succinctly, persuasively and hilariously.

Payment is based on fair market value--and will be discussed if the 'powers that be' at Groupon likes your samples.

Their instructions for applying for their freelance writing opportunities:

"Send us something (short!) that you think is really funny. It could even be less than 2 paragraphs so long as it's hilarious.

For a gold star, prepare a mock Groupon write-up for a random restaurant on Yelp. It should be a place you've never visited.

Resumes are always fine, but not necessary. Feel free to include a seriously brief statement about why you'd be a good Groupon writer. Or not.

Send any submissions to jobs@thepoint.com"

Get Paid Working Online With TicketPullers

If you are looking for work that you can do online, and does need any phone time involved (hard to do with kidlets about!)--then you might want to take a look at TicketPullers.com.

Basically you will be trying to help clients get tickets for entertainment/sports events at the best price.

Ticket Pullers are start paid 5% of the client’s total ticket purchase price at first, and your commissions can go up to 10% as you gain more experience. They also offer BONUS sessions for double or triple your commission.

I have not tried ticket pullers, so cannot give you my opinion. But there is a FAQ section that gives a lot of information, and you can apply online if interested.

Once again, I'd love to hear from anyone with experience with Ticket Pullers--good or bad.....

Thanks!

Work From Home Court Researchers

SunLark Research offers work from home opportunities for people interested in visiting local courthouses to obtain information from public records.

This is of course not completely working at home, as you will need to drive to courthouses to get the information needed by clients. But you determine when and how often you work, and the court research generally will be very basic information from the documents available, such as names and addresses. The information is then entered into a spreadsheet or database.

The amount of work available for a court researcher will depend largely on the population base and growth and mobility of the area and on the type of assignments available in your area. A very small county (i.e., under 10,000 residents) may have only one hour of work per month while a very large county (i.e., over 1 million population) can sometimes keep a fast-working researcher busy for 30-40 hours per week and could even need to be done by a team.

If interested in this work from home (sort of) opportunity (sorry--no pay information was given), then check out the website and you can apply right online.

Good Luck!

Weegy--- Get Paid To Answer Questions Online

So I came across Weegy.com today. Apparently it is relatively new, and is along the same lines as Cha Cha, except that there is no test to take-- with Weegy anyone can sign up on the spot.

Now I have signed up, but am still working my way through the site trying to get a good feel for it, and understand how it really works. What I gather so far is that you sign up, select categories you feel you have some expertise/knowledge in, and basically wait for conversations to open up.
Now, you can join a conversation, give your answer, and earn points. I will say honestly at this point it seems a little fuzzy, at least for me. Maybe I need a second cup of coffee....

Anyhoo-- I am not certain yet of how you get paid. But it does state on the Weegy website that Weegy experts earn .20 for each conversation you participate in. I do not think Weegy is big enough yet for tons of conversation opportunities just yet--but that is just my observation so far--I could easily be wrong. Also, I am not certain on how you become "an expert"--if it is automatic or is that where the "point" system comes in.

And that is what I have to share about Weegy so far. As I learn more/use it more (or not), I will share here. But I would LOVE to hear from others that have tried Weegy--have signed up and are using it to actually earn some extra money..... anything you can share would be great! Tips, suggestions, etc....

Last few items about www.weegy.com --

You are paid through paypal when your account reaches the $20 min. payout.
You can comment on previous or ongoing conversations to earn points.
They have a referral program--once you sign up, you can get get the links for others to sign up and you earn residual income that way (so, yes, if you use my links here, that is my affiliate link.. and if you sign up..thank-you!)
You will hear a "ding" when a conversation opens up--if you leave the page open-- you do not need to log off

Ok-- that's it for now. Check out Weegy, come back and let us know what you think--Thanks!

Need Some Ideas For Starting Your Own Business?

Starting a small business of your own is something so many of us dream of doing, and something that most definitely requires passion, hard work, dedication and time. But it can all be so worth it--even if your business may not make it, you will always have the satisfaction of knowing you tried. And if you are successful, what a great way to make money: doing what you love, being your own boss, and sharing your passion with others.

If you are thinking of starting your own business, the most important thing I can suggest is to RESEARCH, RESEARCH, and then RESEARCH some more! Know everything you can about the business you are thinking of starting, and ask questions of anyone in that business that is successful. Be prepared to work long hard hours, be prepared to NOT make a lot of money, if any, in the beginning, and if you can start a business based on something you love, that will make everything come so much more easily to you.

Need some ideas for starting a business? There is a great list of 50 ideas for starting your own business over on The Simple Dollar. Take a look and see if you get inspired ... and if you have any ideas not mentioned on that list, maybe you could share here??

Make Money Geocaching

I have not done geocaching before, but I have heard from others that it can be a lot of fun. Geocaching is basically a world wide treasure hunt. All over the world there are 3/4 of a million hidden boxes, each box is locatable by co-ordinates. People log on to one website to find the location of the hidden geocache then they go out and find it, mostly by using handheld GPS devices.

This opportunity, while not exactly a work at home job, sounds like a fun way to make some extra money and learn about geocaching at the same time.

A small start up company in Berkeley has developed a new GPS Device that is just for geocaching, and is more afordable for families. They want people to write articles about their geocaching adventures. And you do not need to have had prior experience-- you can use one of their "geomate.jr" gadgets, and the article could come from your experience using it while geocahing.

Each article should be between 1000 and 1500 words, written in a fun humorous style.

Salary is between $70-$100, and there is a 10 day timeline (not quite sure what that means, but thinking that is the span in which they would like you to try out the Geomate Jr. and then write your article.

Articles will be submitted to various magazine, websites, newsletter. You would receive full credit for the article. It would also be posted on the company's website.

EDIT ** April 8th** Just notified that the openings have been completely filled, and applications are no longer being accepted
