Bilingual Freelance Writers Wanted For Childrens Website

The Children’s Advocate is looking for experienced, bilingual (English/Spanish) freelancers around the state to write articles on a range of topics affecting children and families in California:
• Policy issues and trends
• Recent grassroots activism victories
• Early care and education professional development topics
• Raising kids.

The Children’s Advocate is a quarterly, bilingual, nonprofit news magazine that reports on issues affecting California’s children and families, including advocacy, child care/early care and education, health, poverty, and schools. Their audience is families, child care teachers, and children’s services professionals who work with them. For more about the Children’s Advocate, see their website at www.4children.org

Freelancers would interview Spanish-speaking parents, child care teachers, and program staff on an assigned topic, submit a draft article (most often in English, possibly in Spanish), and conduct additional reporting as needed. Some background in or knowledge of children's issues in California strongly preferred.

 Pay:  $132 for a 550 word article, $263 for a 1100 word article.

Send a query letter, resume, and clips or writing samples in English and Spanish to aacjessine@4children.org
