Entrepreneur Spotlight

A bit of inspiration and motivation if you are tossing about ideas for starting a home based business in 2010!

In 2004, William Hildebolt and his wife, Daphne Kwon, had the idea to launch a Web site where consumers could submit videos of product reviews. The first review, of a portable DVD player, was uploaded on Sept. 9, 2005, on expotv.com.

By the end of 2005, the site was up to 2,500 reviews. By the end of 2007, expotv.com had 150,000 reviews. Today there are more than 300,000 "Videopinions." Categories range from pets to clothing to books. Check out www.expotv.com and maybe get inspired to do some brainstorming for home business ideas you can start in the new year!!

Brainstorming Business Ideas---10 Home Busines Ideas

So it is FRIDAY! Time for brainstorming home business ideas (and a new TGIF DRINK RECIPE!!)

I thought I would link up to a couple of articles I found this week on the Internet, that offer home business ideas and resources.

So go grab that TGIF drink...and get comfy, do some reading and get inspired this weekend!

First up is an article on Yahoo that offers 10 ideas for home businesses you can run part time (The article's words...not mine!). From Baker to T-Shirt Vendor, there are a ideas that may inspire your creativity.

Next is an article on a mom that became a sole distributor in the United States of a baby bath tub manufactured in Germany. I will say that the baby bath tub itself does not appeal to me (but apparently it does to lots of other moms), but the idea of finding a product with a strong market appeal and becoming a distributor of it is an interesting one. So I thought I'd link to the article here for inspiration.

And here is a video from the Today Show that features women who have turned their passion into money making businesses.

Finally, here is an article that provides 10 tips for starting your own home business.

Enjoy your weekend, and don't forget to check out this week's TGIF Drink Recipe!

Business Idea / Franchise Possibility?

In my daily cruising around the Internet, I came across "Grins To Go," a mobile photography business that also offers franchise opportunities. The Franchise King blog has picked this company as the number one franchise for May 2009.

The idea is simple -- photographers go to you--to your events, parties, home, sporting events, etc... And we love our pictures. Everyone does. After our kids and pets, pictures are right up there on the list when trying to grab things to take with you if there is a fire, right?

So I thought it was worth passing on this business franchise here....if for no other reason than to perhaps give inspiration/motivation to enthusiastic picture takers who make photography a passionate hobby. Maybe think about turning the hobby into a business. Start your own mobile photography business. Maybe make it more specialized at first to keep things simple. Like mobile pet photography. Or focus on children's birthday parties.

And if you are in the market for a franchise, you might really want to look into this one as well.

Got camera? Get a business. Check out the Grins2Go...and maybe find inspiration for starting your own home business!
