Freelance Travel Writers To Work From Home

A new Travel site is looking for passionate travel writers to write overviews of various travel destinations. The site would like writers to provide 2-3 overviews per weekday, for approximately 12 weeks. Each overview should be 300-350 words long. Pay is $10 per overview.

While a passion for travel is important, you do not need to be a veteran traveler yourself-- what they are looking for are articles that are convincing, persuasive, inspirational, original and accurate destination overviews that inspire people to travel to the given destination.

If interested in working from home writing travel/destination articles, they ask that you email your resume,a travel related writing sample, and a 150 word travel overview of “Rome, Italy” (The directions for this step are intentionally vague. They want to see what you think is important to include. Just keep in mind that your target audience is someone researching a trip and trying to decide whether or not to visit Rome).

Email the above to: travelwritingjobs@gmail.com

This is a Craig's List posting, so please use due diligence.

Tax Tips For Freelancers

I read a very interesting article (and a little scary actually!) about money, taxes and people who freelance for a living. Many people may not even consider themselves as freelancers, especially if they are working part time from home and not making regular incomes.

But according to the article, anyone who earns more than $1,000 a year should plan on paying estimated taxes every quarter. Many people who freelance fail to recognize that they are now basically running their own business--which means they must estimate how much they'll owe and pay taxes that full-time employees have taken out of their paychecks automatically. Freelance workers also have to pay self-employment taxes.

The IRS requires estimated taxes to be filed by the 15th of January, April, June and September each year. If your payment is late or isn't as much as it should be, the government can charge a penalty of 3.5%, based on the amount you owe. Underpay by $1,000, and you could be stuck with an extra $35 fee.

So while there are many benefits to being a freelancer, there are tax responsibilities and consequences to be aware of. Check out the article, and get some tips for saving and paying taxes if you are a freelancer, even part time.

Work At Home as a Freelance Editor

If you have 3 or more years experience as a writer and /or editor, this work at home opportunity may work for you!

Conjecture.com is looking for several editors that can oversee groups of writers and the content they have written.
